We tested the Coupe version of the Merry Fisher 1295, flagship of Jeanneau’s eponymous range. A boat that, despite its name, is definitely more of an all-around cruiser than a fishing boat. A real home on the water for small and medium cruising: let’s see its details.
The design echoes the rest of the range, with large windows that contrast with the gelcoat, and a superstructure streamlined by the absence of the flybridge, a distinctive feature of this Coupe version. The on-board areas are well defined. In the cockpit we find the classic L-shaped settee around a folding table, looking to starboard at the folding, manual broadside. The particularly wide bow accommodates a large 3-seat forward-facing sundeck. The dimensions of 12.41 m overall length by 3.80 m beam, combined with the pontooned layout, give plenty of usable volume on board.
As soon as one enters the salon, we find the kitchen, a transitional element between exterior and interior, and a second, spacious indoor dining area, which, as the table is lowered, can become a large additional bed. Honorable mention to the brightness and 360-degree visibility provided by the extremely thin windows and pillars. Below deck, the layout is the classic one with the master cabin forward, which has its own private bathroom available, and two cabins, twin or double as desired, towards the stern, with a second shared bathroom.
But let’s come to the sea test. The test conditions saw wind and a rather annoying long wave. Compared to her smaller sisters, the size of this 1295 helps her, and not a little, to be smooth on waves and docile even without special care. Moreover, the triple outboard engine with a total of 900 hp manages to get her up to 37 knots with 7 people on board. Remarkable performance even if, probably, the owner of these units will prefer cruising speeds on 26/28 knots, which are really comfortable. At these speeds the detected consumption is under 7 liters per mile.
Merry Fisher 1295 Coupe starts at €513,960, with 3 Yamaha 300 outboards and 20% French VAT, while the configuration we had on test came in at a whopping €643,126.
