At the Genoa Boat Show 2025, Suzuki Italia Marine presented a novelty that will garner the interest of thousands of boating enthusiasts. In a market that is running more and more towards large sizes and power (…and related prices), the Japanese manufacturer has decided to renew precisely the most popular range in Italy, the 40-horsepower range, developing a very attractive “license-free” outboard.
From a strictly mechanical point of view, the new EVO range has no revolutions, on the contrary: the 3-cylinder engine block with 941 cc displacement is confirmed, to exploit every scrap of power allowed by law (which limits power to 40.8 hp and displacement to 1,000 cc) and the self-tensioning oil-bath chain drive, a rarity on such a compact engine.
A block that has demonstrated incredible reliability, exploited in thousands of recreational and professional applications, since it is also shared with other engines of greater power. In addition, it maintains the typical lightness of 3-cylinders, which is simply essential in order not to unbalance the boats for which it is intended, generally within 6/7 meters. In fact, it remains the lightest outboard on the market, weighing only 102 kg. A novelty, on the other hand, is the arrival of the Stealth color (matte black) on these engines as well, which is excellent for both sporty and more elegant vehicles, given its understated elegance.
But the real revolution is the price. The DF40A EVO range starts at €4,500 including VAT and pre-rig, to which only installation needs to be added, so a truly attractive turnkey price. An additional €200 is needed for the Stealth color scheme. A viable alternative both for really affordable packages and to remotorize old hulls, since Suzuki, until 03/31/2026, makes this offer even more tempting with the possibility of zero-rate financing, from 12 to 36 installments, starting at €99 per month.
