Ryck 280 is boat for a thousand uses, from cruising to sporting activities via the classic bathing boat. A complete and strong vessel with a high performance sport hull suitable for both high speed and comfortable cruising. After the walkaround Fjord and Sealine cabin cruisers, the Hanse Group is now also targeting sporty weekenders. This new generation of powerboat developed in Greifswald was born out of a collaboration with designer Bill Dixon, and the first model, precisely the Ryck 280 is a 9.5-meter vessel designed to combine a more sporty spirit of adventure with comfort, with even the possibility of sleeping outside thanks to a cabin.
Starting with the deck, the shipyard immediately wanted to distinguish itself by offering a number of different solutions depending on the intended use. From the 100 percent dedicated version for fishing or dining on board with rod holders and a hotplate for cooking, we move on to the dive version with various ad hoc storage spaces or to the cruise version that is more curated and suitable for real exploration. In general, we can say that on the outside, a cockpit emerges all on one level, with an L-shaped reclining sofa. The broadside is designed to lower toward the bow, but this area generally remains sufficiently protected anyway. This element should also be considered in the context of having children on board.Ryck 280 – Boat
The choice to off-center the seat on the left leaves fairly wide access on the right. The cockpit then has plenty of surface area and a table can be placed in the center, while toward the bow one can opt for a refrigerator and wetbar with grill or stove. At the far stern are two swim platforms with a ladder to descend into the sea and a shower with hot and cold water. The Ryck 280 on the deck at the layout level maintains a “pure” walkaround layout, and thus there is access from the two sides to the bow sundeck, protected by high bulwarks and substantial supports. Also available for this area is an anchor with electric windlass. Ryck 280 underway
In the center, the two-seat dashboard is protected by a windshield and has two 12-inch plotters available. Above is a t-top found in various versions of the boat, which can, however, also be chosen completely open to give an even more racy and dynamic look to the profile. Two additional movable canopies can then be added to this support to expand the shaded areas during the warmer phases of our shipboard life. Also key on this Bill Dixon-designed model is the double-step hull designed specifically to offer the ultimate in hydrodynamic performance. Ryck 280 underway
In this sense, the two steps in the hull serve to allow smoother transitions on the wave and less consumption when in glide. Aesthetically, the inverted bow aims to be one of the distinctive features of this specimen, capable of making the Ryck immediately recognizable in the market.
Ryck 280 – Below Deck
Because it is a boat designed for many types of use and various types of owners, including those who want to spend longer periods on board, below deck it is also equipped for weekends aboard with a space that serves as a large double cabin with, as standard, a separate equipped bathroom.Ryck 280 – Forward Cabin
In terms of livability, we are certainly not talking about a large suite, but the space to rest is there and the windows also allow a fair amount of natural light and air to enter. If, on the other hand, sleeping on board is out of the question for you, this area can become a large locker for sports equipment and in this play a really interesting role. Ryck 280 – Cabin
Ryck 280 – Motorization
On this type of boat, the “adventure” sports boats, it is therefore necessary to offer outstanding performance, and the Ryck 280 is not to be outdone. With a single outboard motor ranging from 250 to 350 horsepower, usually Mercury, it can touch interesting top speeds, about 40 knots with the 300. The top speed is always an attention-grabbing figure, but even more important is the cruising speed and its efficiency at this gait. In the case of the Ryck 280 we are talking about an average consumption of about 67 liters per hour at a cruising speed of 28 knots.

When we write our tests, we talk about live opera, dead opera, skids and deadrise. All these names, to the most experienced are clear, but not everyone is familiar with the technical jargon. Yet these terms are fundamental to understanding
