Cannes, September. This is where Kingship, a historic Asian shipyard founded by Roger Liang, sets foot in Europe for the first time with one of its yachts . And not with just any model, but with the new Kingship 88, a three-decker under 24 meters that promises to make waves. For the brand, which was founded in 2003 and has grown up building megayachts up to 50 meters, this is a symbolic step: entering the European market with a boat capable of combining Eastern spirit and Western taste, designed by the Spanish firm Barracuda Yacht Design of Madrid.

Kingship 88: “Less is more”

Kingship 88 will be available in two versions-open flybridge and closed flybridge-both sharing a simple concept: to offer the space, comfort, and prestige of a yacht over 30 meters, but with the practical and management advantages of a boat under 24 meters.

Below the water line, an all-aluminum displacement hull-up to three times lighter than steel-can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10 percent and provide a range of 3,000 miles at 11 knots. With an overall length of 26.70 meters (including swim platform) and a width of 7.80 meters, it offers about 60 percent of the interior volume of a 35-meter, but with significantly lower construction and operating costs. The interiors, designed to accommodate 8 (with full beam cabins) or 10 guests all in en-suite cabins, are reminiscent of those of a 5-star hotel in terms of size and finish.

Details that make a difference

The main deck is a true “walkway” from bow to stern, with wide, protected access. The aft area is ideal for convivial dining, while stairs descend to a swim platform very close to the water, perfect for a dip or to board the tender. The open flybridge version enhances outdoor living and sea views, while the closed flybridge provides total comfort even in less predictable climates.

Another distinguishing feature is the smooth separation of guest and crew areas, with integration from the sailors’ area to the bridge, galley, and crew mess on the main deck, a rare feature under 100 feet.

The Kingship shipyard

Kingship Marine Limited was born in 2003 from the vision of Roger Liang, who grew up in a shipbuilding family in Hong Kong and had a past at the helm of Baglietto in Italy. Over time Liang has blended precision Chinese craftsmanship and high-end Western design, collaborating with masters such as Giovanni Zuccon, Francesco Paszkowski, and Jon Bannenberg.

The shipyard is based in ZhongShan, in the Pearl River Delta in the Guangdong region of southern China, just a 90-minute ferry ride from Hong Kong. Asia’s first Lloyd’s and MCA-certified shipyard, it now covers 60 hectares and can build up to seven megayachts simultaneously, thanks to a 600-ton syncro-lift and private docks.
