A tribute to the companies and people who have made Barche a Motore great over these 35 years allowing it to be born, grow, and become great up to this historic anniversary. In these articles the great excellences of boating tell their stories and reveal their projects, making an important contribution to the knowledge of this world, which allows us all to go to sea, in all forms and contexts. Good first. HR 30 is the first model presented by the Sicilian shipyard Halma Rib. Its strengths are its squared bow, lots of space, high quality. You can see it at the Cannes and Genoa boat shows along with the brand new HR 25.
Inflatables in the soul
The airboat goes back to its roots. These models want to make “new” school.
The field of RIBs has seen exponential growth in recent years, and is now increasingly crowded with competitors. Compounded by the rigid layout on which an inflatable boat must be built, where the space left for designers’ creativity is limited, it is therefore fair to ask what it takes to stand out in this vast panorama. The soul: this is the answer that comes from Halma RIB, a young shipyard from Palermo, Italy. More or less literally, then, since it is precisely the root of the brand’s name. But it is also-and above all-a metaphor for the dedication of the Amoroso family, which is dedicated to launching this new reality.
“We had charter businesses in the family, so the passion has always been there from a very young age,” says Filippo Amoroso, who runs the yard with his brother and father, “but we noticed that there was too much approximation in many boats.” Hence, the key to standing out: aiming for total quality, creating an exclusive, luxury product. But to achieve this, good ideas alone are not enough, so they enter into partnership with Cantieri Marel, of which they are now one of the brands, bringing the know-how of those who have been building inflatable boats for years, even for the professional market, which, as we know, must guarantee a considerable level of reliability.
Halma Rib HR 30
For its part, Halma RIB puts a whole new approach to it, with a design taken care of entirely by them, thanks to engineers Albeggiani and Inzerillo, who designed a deep V-shaped hull with a deadrise of as much as 24 degrees that is maintained all the way to the stern. The molds were made with numerically controlled machines, to achieve maximum precision, because quality always starts with sailing skills. Then, on deck, the focus was on space management, the cross and delight of every dinghy, to maximize livability. Starting with the bow, which is square, another hallmark of Halma RIB. All this has been condensed into the HR 30, the shipyard’s first model, shown off-show last year in Genoa, and officially presented last January at Boot Düsseldorf. Also in the range is the smaller, 8-meter HR 25, which is the entry point to the range. Next year, the HR 35, an 11-meter XL vessel, will also arrive at the fall shows, but the gaze is already on the future, where models up to 15 meters are expected.

When we write our tests, we talk about live opera, dead opera, skids and deadrise. All these names, to the most experienced are clear, but not everyone is familiar with the technical jargon. Yet these terms are fundamental to understanding
