Boston Whaler 360 Outrage: the new boat (11 m) for fishing and cruising

Already dubbed by some, as the most interesting Made in USA of the year, Boston Whaler’s latest is perhaps the most exciting news for enthusiasts in the segment. It is, of course, the Boston Whaler 360 Outrage, debuted this February 2022 at the Miami International Boat Show.

Set on a typical center console layout, the 360 Outrage fits directly between the 330 and 380, impressing with a good set of innovative solutions. An ideal vessel for a far wider audience than might be expected.

Classic lines for the segment, though somehow still innovative and extremely sleek, introduce a visibly high-performance hull. And the deck, itself well thought out and spacious, already visibly stands out in three balanced areas. Starting from the stern, the cockpit is designed to accommodate everything needed for fishing trips, starting with the 24 rod holders in this area. There is no shortage of live bait tanks (208.2-liter capacity) arranged in the aft portion of the bulwark and storage lockers located laterally under the dunnage. The care taken in designing the cockpit is also evidenced by the flexibility in terms of use.

And so when not engaged in fishing, this surface is transformed into a comfortable convivial area enhanced by the presence of a removable aft settee facing two seats, complete with armrests and cup holders, oriented in the opposite direction of travel. The latter, thanks to the fold-down backrests, can be transformed into an additional worktop if necessary, strictly covered in teak. Movement on board, especially in the midst of boating, is facilitated and made safe by the wide side walkways, with padded interior lining, and the presence of handrails and grab bars.

Another living area opens in the bow. The ideal place to enjoy and appreciate the pleasure of cruising. A feeling enhanced by the presence of a two-seater sundeck with armrest, equipped with a cup holder, integrated centrally. Below is another storage area in which to store the base and table top that can be mounted forward between the two settees on the broadside. This is a clever way to transform this area into an area for holding aperitifs or, once the coffee table is lowered, create an additional large sunbathing area thanks to the included cushions. Just below deck, on the other hand, is the possibility of a space created under the steering console, where we find a cabin equipped with a sleeping area, toilet and sink with a Corian top.

The helm station is located amidships and is protected both frontally and laterally by three glass surfaces with the front one that can be opened electrically in the upper portion to provide effective natural ventilation. The bridge is served by three ergonomic chairs, with the middle one reserved for those tasked with steering the boat. The onboard instrumentation benefits from the best, state-of-the-art equipment made available by Simrad, a brand that, with Boston Whaler, shares membership in the Brunswick Group.

All information is thus displayed on two 16-inch NSO evo3S multifunction screens (in the standard version), thanks to which functions, some of them even remotely, can be managed almost intuitively. To the version equipped with the unmistakable tuna tower, with an additional control station designed to meet the needs of those who enjoy sport fishing, this model also combines an alternative designed for use devoted to pure cruising. Hence, the hard top can be provided as a surface where SUP boards or other water toys can be housed. And so the Outrage 360 becomes the ideal means to enjoy the best that a cruise on this boat can offer.

Maneuvering, and driving the boat more generally, is facilitated by the presence of the new Digital Transmission and Throttle System (DTS), and as an option it is also possible to mount the Joystick Piloting System, another innovation again signed by Mercury that greatly increases the control of the boat especially in maneuvering. It is Mercury Marine-branded thrusters that provide the necessary thrust for this 11-meter vessel. There is no shortage of options here: ranging from a standard solution that features three Mercury outboards of 300 horsepower each; a second that rests on a pair of Verado V12s of 600 horsepower each; and a more driven one that lines up three 450-horsepower Mercury Racing outboards for a total output of 1,350 horsepower.So, true flagship of the 360?
